The Alchemist

As my days in Leeds are numbered, (waah) I've been revisiting lots of my favourite places to eat and drink and thought it was only fitting to try and share as many as I can on here. I love the Alchemist. I love Living Ventures restaurants/bars in general. In first year my friend Jo worked for them, so received 50% discount on food at all of the brands. Needless to say, we were regulars for lunch at the Alchemist. We visit less now as it's more expensive for us, but I'm always visiting for cocktails.

After a stressful day at Uni we needed a wind down so perched ourselves on a table on the balcony in the sun, ordering some amazing cocktails and the most amazing food. I got the Hot and Cold Expresso Tini, and you can tell from the photos that it was amazing. I love expresso martinis and this was by far one of the best I've tried, plus there's all the exciting dry ice, so I'd definitely recommend it!

Admittedly, there isn't that much choice for a Gluten Free'er like me, but the options that are there are amazing. The menu itself is brilliant, I've seen people order (and love) so many different meals, and with some recent additions there's definitely something for everyone. Before I was diagnosed I had the Battered Prawn Lollipops which are INSANE. God I miss them.

The cocktail variety is amazing. My favourites are the White Cosmo, the Lemon Meringue Martini and the Passionfruit Mojito, because everyone loves a Passionfruit Mojito! There's also some really interesting ones, including one called 'The Colour Changing One' which, obviously, changes colour! The Mad Hatters Tea party, which I've always wanted to try, involves tea cups and a lot of dry ice, amazing!

Once we'd started our cocktails, (Jo got the Strawberry Cup) our food arrived. We both got Fajitas which were definitely the best choice for our windy balcony setting as the hot plate kept the meal boiling the whole time. To make it Gluten Friendly, I swapped the Tortillas for Chips (the chips are cooked in the same oil as gluten products, so aren't suitable for Coeliacs! But I'm sure they'd be able to whip something up. This would also go perfectly with Rice!)

I got the plain chicken and my friend got the cajun battered chicken which looked and smelt amazing! We got some regular chips and our favourite, the salt & pepper chips which come topped with onions and are just beautiful. The Fajitas come with chicken on a bed of onions and peppers in a lovely sauce. It comes with sides of cheese, guacamole, salsa, sour cream and lettuce. So much choice, so filling and so yummy!

Have you tried the food at the Alchemist before?
