Perhaps the perfect time to post this as I'm definitely starting to prepare my AW wardrobe. Far too often I've been caught out heading to work in sandals and arriving in London to a rain cloud (or occasionally, all wrapped up in a leather jacket to the blaring sun). A few months ago, yes I know I've been terrible, I attended the House of Fraser Press Day and was blown away. I love summer fashion, but nothing beats a good old wardrobe of camel, burgundy and grey, or a perfect fur gilet, and House of Fraser certainly has it all.
First off, bags galore. With a combination of designer and lower priced brands, there was definitely something for everyone. I'm a sucker for Michael Kors bags, and have got very close to purchasing a few times when I've accepted that my dream Prada Saffiano is out of my price range. There was a key colour palette of shades of red, from bright vibrant reds to deep burgundies and black. I love so many of the bags in this photo that I need to move on before I do some dangerous shopping.
Of course, Faux Fur is an essential in any winter wardrobe. I love gilets as they keep you incredibly warm but cool at the same time. Perfect for someone like me who commutes then sits in a potentially cold office for the day. They're also amazing to layer. This ombre style gilet has the most gorgeous colour tones. NEED!
I also fell in LOVE with this fringed bag. It was reasonably priced and is something you can wear all year round. Perfect for festivals, or to spruce up a basic winter outfit. I am guilty of always carrying huge bags and filling them up with useless junk, so I definitely need to collect a few more reasonably sized bags for day to day. I've searched for this online but can't find it, so I'm hoping I find it soon!
Another amazing piece that I haven't stopped lusting over. Again, I haven't been able to find this online yet, but every time I search for 'Brown' in coats this dangerously gorgeous French Connection Drape Maxi Jacket comes up. Hide my credit card!
While I was there, I had a quick peek at the Men's Fashion as my boyfriend is a keen fashionista (he honestly sports some braver prints than I do). I was pleasantly surprised by some gorgeous suits, amazing leather wallets and this BEAUTIFUL camel coat. I'd have bought it by now if it wasn't a bit over my price range for a spontaneous gift. But for any of his family that read my blog.. Hint Hint, he'd love this!
Oh and look at the view from the press office! How gorgeous!
Before I headed off, I wandered down a floor into the Home Showroom. I was still living in Leeds at the time, but with an upcoming move back home and plans to revamp my room, I had to check out what they have to offer for AW.
Each room had a distinct feel and I honestly can't decide whether I'm more of a white minimal kinda gal or whether the colourful prints would make my room look more inspiring. Oh, and there was no shortage of beautiful metal in the form of lamps, vases and lights, a bloggers dream.
Finally, all tired out and with a bit of time to kill before my train home, I headed to Selfridge's for a quick shop and a trip to Vintage Salt. My lonely coffee quickly turned into a Bellini (which admittedly, was disgusting) but opening my little goody bag from the event turned it all around.
What is your favourite piece I've featured from the House of Fraser Press Day? Oh and of course, what are you most excited about adding to your AW wardrobe?
